Butt Weight: There’s More!

But wait, there’s more?

Butt Weight:  There’s More!  Like many, I have gained unwelcome weight over time.  Unlike many, my weight has “climbed the stairs” of time in a stepwise pattern:  since my lean, healthy weight of youth, I consistently gain ~ 9 kg (20 pounds) about every 13 years.  These unfortunate and unhealthy “growth spurts” each take about 4-5 years.  So, I’ve “stepped it up” three times from 66 kg (145 lb) in my 20s to 93 kg (205 lb) at this writing.

This stair-step weight gain pattern inspired me to create the Sleep, Nutrition, and Activity Questionnaire (SNAQ) attached to this work.  Maybe this will help me “go down the stairs?”  But if not, how many more “weight steps” will my body climb before its end?

But wait, there’s more?  And THEN what?  What becomes of our body’s mass components after death?  Of course this depends in part on our disposition (not that disposition, the other one!).  Also this:  how and how much is our existence attached to physical matter vs. ethereal concepts and spiritual beliefs?

This work depicts multiple possible pathways of weight during life and after death.  It’s basically a line graph of my weight in kilograms (vertical axis) across time (horizontal axis).  Birth is at time 0, the thinner vertical black line at center is my age when this work was created (~ 60), the thicker vertical black line 2/3 of the way across predicts when I may die (about age 80?), and a thin dashed vertical line marks 100 years.

The work weighs many options, as explained by the color coding of the lines.  What will YOUR data show, then, now, and in the future?
