Adaptation of the show tune “The Wells Fargo Wagon”

from The Music Man by Meredith Willson

In Meredith Willson’s musical The Music Man, all of River City turned out to welcome the horse-drawn Wells Fargo Wagon as it rolled into town.  The townspeople excitedly sang of past deliveries and what this one may bring.  The Wagon’s namesake show tune has 16 separate singing roles in addition to the chorus, which may be a record.

The modern-day equivalent of the Wells Fargo Wagon is of course the ubiquitous delivery truck, be it FedEx, UPS’s Big Brown, a Budget rental, or yes, The Amazon Truck.  This contemporary adaptation of Willson’s The Wells Fargo Wagon pokes good-hearted fun at our modern delivery services.  They mostly do a fantastic and appreciated job.  How would we have made it through the pandemic without them?!?  Sing along and enjoy!
